Marketing Brilliance

Bell Plantation does something pretty clever - they make "extra virgin" peanut oil (I am guessing cold pressed, as per the definition for olive oil). But what to do with the rest of the pressing? Well, grind it up, and sell it as PB2 - powdered peanut butter.

I'm tempted to order some, and experiment with it.

  1. I don't think that's quite right - extra-virgin olive oil is not necessarily cold-pressed. It's just pressed without detergent or pH treatments. Cold-pressed is even virginer extra-virgin oil. So extra virgin peanut oil would be peanut oil squeezed without pH treatments or detergents, would be my guess... But it does represent a pretty entertaining product. Huzzah!! Really high quality low quality oil!

  2. Well, I ordered the PB2. In both the chocolate and regular flavors. I was very impressed! It is much healthier than "regular" peanut butter, with only a percentage of the fat and sugar content. It is great when you are wanting creamy peanut butter, like with apples. I tend to prefer crunchy peanut butter though for spoon dipping. But I would definitely buy this stuff again. It's very convenient too, since it's just powder that you reconstitute with water.
