Stacking the deck
I bought a slice of banana poundcake from Starbucks this afternoon, and noticed that it tasted rather intensely of banana. Very intensely. I suspect that Starbucks (or at least the source of this particular piece of cake) used an additive - isoamyl acetate - which is the "essence" of that distinctive banana flavor, and used too much of it. It is rather unpleasant, remind me to bake some banana bread as soon as I manage to get some bananas to overripen.

How are those bananas coming along? I'm sure I could pick some up at the store and let them ripen here for you.
ReplyDeleteHi, Allan. Nah, that was a month ago - banana pancakes are long gone. Time for another batch of bananas :).
